ANZAC Day

ANZAC Day(Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) is similar to memorial day to remember their participation in WWI. It is apparently really popular to have dawn ceremonies for the day, don't know why you can't wait till like noon or even 9am. I was amazed how many people were at the train station at 5am, and there were so many people at the ceremony they had about 50 or more city buses running constantly from the train station, plus everyone that biked, ran or drove themselves there.

Where I'm living organized a trip to go to the Perth dawn ceremony, so I got up at 3:30am to have my full tourist experience. It was a very short ceremony, bascially lay some flowers down, minute of silence, and a short speech. The minute of silence didn't seem much difference from the rest of the ceremony, apparently it's taken very seriously. The Perth ceremony took place in King's Park which over looks the city, which made for very nice background for the sun rise. Don't worry true the Aussie holiday style after the festivities are over everyone goes drinking for the rest of the day. A ground of us came home and make pancakes and omlettes, a better option in my mind cause then I could take a nap.
