Melbourne

Second stop for my holiday was Melbourne. As I was on my own in Mebourne and didn't know anyone there, my friend KJ who studied there last semester was a great help in where to go the first day. All I knew was Melbourne was the best place for shopping, and that I did! Bourke St in the city is great for little malls and shops everywhere! So I wandered around there for day 1, didn't really shop much, but I did find they have a great visitors center which helped me figure out what else to do while there.

Highlight of the trip was the "penguin parade"! They have the world's smallest penguins, called fairy penguins (or more politically correct little penguins) I watched them all come back home after a day of fishing, it was so cute they could only waddle so far before stopping to rest. No pictures or cameras were allowed, so of course I took some videos them =) The penguin tour also included a tour of the Australian garden which is a giant garden that looks like australia and the terrain in the different areas. Then a trip to the chocolate factory! So many free samples I'm surprised I didn't get a tummy ache. A koala conservation park, although in Victoria you can't touch the koalas so not as exciting as petting them. Then came the parade.

I'm now back in Perth and back to work (which really doesn't mean a whole lot with my classes)
